England may have shown great loyalty to former skipper Michael Vaughan in renewing his central contract but the bookmakers are pretty sure he won’t get a sniff in the team.

You can get as short as 9/4 about the man from Yorkshire failing to play a test match before the end of the Ashes series next summer. That’s quite a damming opinion for the player who was pivotal in taking the Ashes off Australia in 2005.
Vaughan has been wildly out of form in all types of the game and can’t seem to buy a run for the white Rose County at the moment. The selectors will have to see a lot from him in the remainder of the season and in nets sessions to give him a look in.
That said Andrew Strauss isn’t exactly pulling up trees at the moment. He, in this rejuvenated England eleven is the one who looks most vulnerable. The Ashes winning skipper will probably get a place on the plane to India for England’s next tour. It is always wise to take three openers and it is understood that there is some sort of programme in place for the test players during the one day series.
It’s a safe bet he won’t make the first test team on the Sub continent so you can probably back the 8/15 available for that scenario. But it might be wise to steer clear of the 4/6 for him to miss out in the first Ashes Test as he will have plenty of opportunities to come back
