www.ladbroke.co.uk – This week’s Champions League results did nothing to suggest the outright winner but with Bayern Munich’s record 5-0 away triumph at Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon it certainly gave punters something to think about if they are still yet to have a punt on the trophy winners.

Favourites and reigning champions Manchester United had a steady night in the San Siro against hosts Inter Milan and after finishing in a tight goalless draw I fancy United to go through in the home leg in two weeks time.
Five time winners Liverpool came away from the Bernabau with a credible 1-0 win against Real Madrid who had been enjoying destroying teams in the last month in the Spanish top division but Israeli Benayouns late header was enough to give Liverpool the advantage before the 2nd leg in Liverpool in a fortnight.

England’s other representatives in the competition Arsenal and Chelsea both had narrow 1-0 home wins against Italian giants Roma and Juventus respectively, Dutchman Van Persie fired the only goal from the spot for Arsenal and Didier Drogba was Chelsea’s hero after finding the net for the 1st time in three months but both still have a lot to do before they can both have places in the quarter finals.

The outsider’s match of Villarreal and Greek outfit Panathinaikos ended all square at 1-1 and whoever gets through the other games will love to draw either of these two teams in the quarters I am sure.
At this stage of the competition I am going to tip Manchester United to once again pick up the trophy in Rome in the final purely on the way they are playing and with so many of their players coming back to full fitness I think they will be too strong for whoever they come up against providing they knock out Inter. www.ladbroke.co.uk
